  1. How does SafeRock® Minerals stimulate earthworm activity?

The stimulation of earthworm activity is triggered by a combination of factors. When SafeRock® Minerals is applied in combination with adequate moisture, soil carbon levels and a nitrogen source earthworms begin to emerge from dormancy to feed upon the microorganisms. Soil minerals and micronutrients are processed by the worms, whilst decomposing organic matter which make the micro minerals and nutrients available to plants and crops.

  1. SafeRock® Minerals does not have a high NPK (Nitrogen, Phosphorous and Potassium) value. How can it be useful to the soil?

Plants require many types of nutrients to grow healthy and nutrient rich crops. SafeRock® Minerals have many of the secondary macro nutrients and trace elements to facilitate this natural process which are not found in NPK fertilisers.

  1. There are no high values of minerals in SafeRock® Minerals Some soils already have these minerals what is the additional advantage of SafeRock® Minerals ?

SafeRock® Minerals chemical composition is unique and it is the proportional combination of these elements which gives its ability to supply plants with the minerals it requires while also releasing other minerals previously locked up in the soil profile.

  1. How does SafeRock® Minerals unlock the locked up minerals in the soil?

SafeRock® Minerals  pH level being alkaline has a natural liming effect which assists the soil to move towards a balanced neutral pH level. As a result more nutrients within the soil root zone become chemically available to the plant.

  1. Would the high content of metals in SafeRock® Minerals endanger the environment and ecological balance of the soil, like groundwater etc.?

SafeRock® Minerals will not affect the long term environmental integrity of the soil as its metals are in normal ranges for agricultural uses.

  1. How will SafeRock® Minerals reduce the intake of NPK by up to 50%?

As SafeRock® Minerals remineralises and builds soil fertility increasing the plants natural ability to take up greater levels of applied NPK fertilisers, initial levels of application can be reduced to offset this effect.

  1. Which crops has SafeRock® Minerals proved to be very effective in?

Pasture, Row Crops, Vegetables, Vineyards and Orchards.

  1. Can SafeRock® Minerals be mixed with NPK instead of other fillers or bulking like lime, quartz or sand?

SafeRock® Minerals can be used as a beneficial bulking agent to replacement sand or other inert products in current chemical fertiliser production systems which have no agricultural value to soil or plants. Ongoing research is currently underway to determine the natural buffering effect on the acidic chemical fertiliser salts, which may assist in the reduction in acid sulphate soil conditions forming in agricultural soils as a result of fertiliser over use.

  1. How does SafeRock® Minerals address soil acidity?

SafeRock® Minerals pH level of 8.83 positions it as a moderately alkaline resource. It has a natural liming effect on acid soils which also buffers soil pH. Preliminary trials indicate that SafeRock® Minerals also helps to balance Calcium Magnesium ratio issues and Iron Magnesium issues in agricultural soils.
